Contemporary art markets turn red into green sprouts
Between 2008 and 2009 the art market, globally considered, has contracted. Liquidity has evaporated dropping down around a 70-80% from the highest peak and prices were reduced between a 50 and a 70%, told Anders Petterson (Founder and Exective Director of Art Tactic). He continued pointing that, despite these facts, Christie's and Shothebie's have experienced a certain recovery in early 2010 and a rise in the confidence level among investors has been detected. This can lead the European and US markets to a faster recovery than it was expected a year ago.
Some of the money usually spent in luxury goods, such as cars or jets, has been used to the purchase of art pieces , which is considered as investment, pointed Clare McAndrew (Founder of Arts Economics).
